From Dec 1979 to Dec 1980, a total of 8 cases of CPBJI of the extremities were successfully treated by focal debridement and transplantation of free dermal and/or muscular graft with microvascular anastomosis. This method is espe cially indicated in those cases with very little soft tissue left or those with massive scar formation following multiple previous operations, thus impossible for local procurement of tissue. Elimination of the dead space and the coverage of wound surface are the important roles played by this method in the treatment of CPBJI.
