Background and Objective: Essential hypertension is a multifactorial disease characterized by the interaction of genetic and environmental factors, with genetic factors accounting for 30-50%. Currently, the relevant SNPs identified through genome-wide screening analysis explain only 2-3% of the blood pressure variance. It is suggested that there is a large number of undiscovered genetic variants
associated with essential hypertension. The NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase core subunit V2 (NDUFV2) is one of the key subunits of mitochondrial respiratory Complex I, which plays an important role in oxidative stress, inflammation,and cell death, and those are associated with endothelial cell damage, vascular remodeling, and hypertension. The study aims to investigate whether the NDUFV2 rs874250 is associated with essential hypertension.
